Are hydrogen fuel cell cars the future and what are they like to live with? We ask the question and experience first hand the advantages, and disadvantages, of living with a fuel cell. AutoVolt was given exclusive access to Qualcomm Halo to learn all about the wireless charging system, how it operates and what it might mean for the future adoption of EVs. There’s a real chance wireless charging might become an inherent and accepted part of our infrastructure and it’s an exciting prospect. AutoVolt was also privileged to be asked to participate in a New Hydrogen World Record, which consisted driving laps continuously around the M25 accumulating more than 6,000 miles in total over just five days and nights!
Our man Tim Barnes-Clay gets to grips with the new 2016 Toyota Prius for a first drive in Spain, while back in the UK we get to test the Nissan LEAF 30kWh for the first time. You may have noticed there are ever more SUV and crossover vehicles on our roads and there’s plenty of reasons both for and against them. Nonetheless, manufacturers have noticed they’re selling well and that they also offer car makers a chance to stuff them full of hybrid tech too, thanks to there being more space. In our latest issue, we do a full review of the Toyota Rav4 Hybrid & Nissan e-NV200 Evalia (7-seater), a first drive of the BMW X5 xDrive40e and Volvo XC90 T8 Twin-Engine plus of course the Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell is also a crossover vehicle!
We’ve also teamed up with EcoCars4Sale, the second-hand electric and hybrid vehicle specialists, to provide a helpful guide as to the differences between buying new or used electric vehicles.
