Commuters travelling from St Albans, Luton and Luton Airport Parkway with electric cars can rejoice as those stations have added electric car charging points that went live only a few days ago on the 14th August 2013.
They are located on the first floor of the multi-storey car park at Luton, ground floor of the multi-storey car park at Luton Airport Parkway and in the Ridgemont Road car park at St Albans. There are two bays at each station to charge your vehicle while you are at work or out for the day.
It’s important to remember, owning an electric car does not mean car parking is free, but there is a low-emission vehicle discount of 10% available for car park season ticket holders.
To use the “Charge & Go” service, customers need to register for a top-up card which costs £10. Electricity won’t be charged for at station car parks but customers will need to put money on to the card to use it at any one of the other charging points in the SourceEast network.
You can register for a card here. You can find out more information on SourceEast here.
