Sunderland’s Electric Vehicle Charging company gears up for the Grand Final at prestigious awards.
ELM Electric Vehicle Charging Solutions have won Small Business award in the Durham and Wearside regional heats, at the North East Business Awards.
Sponsored by the University of Sunderland, the award recognised the company with a proven record of success. Director, Suzie Guest, said:
“We’re so pleased with this award because all three of us took a big risk in leaving secure jobs, to launch this business. We may be small but we’re unique in what we do in the UK. Our industry is going from strength to strength and we hope that will mean growth for us too.”
Held at Durham’s, Ramside Hall Hotel, the awards were the second of the sub-regional finals.
ELM EV Directors partnered with local taxi firm, Phoenix Taxis, to arrive to the event in style. Making an entrance in the firm’s first luxury electric taxi, the Tesla Model S is the only car of its type available as a taxi in the north of England.
Phoenix Taxis Managing director, Alex Hurst, said:
“The Tesla is a very exciting and welcome addition to our executive service. Excellent service has proven fundamental to the success of our business, and we are always looking for ways to improve the customer experience. We genuinely care about the environment and are driven by a passion to reduce our carbon footprint and have done this consistently through the years by investing in new technology and exploring alternative fuel resources to petrol or diesel. We are thrilled that we can offer such a top-class service while providing a sustainable transport service.”
Winners of each category from Durham and Wearside, Tyneside and Northumberland and Teesside will all attend the North East Business Awards Regional Final in April, held at Hardwick Hall Hotel, Sedgefield.
ELM EV have been trading since July 2013 and provide the UK with fast and reliable charging solutions in the form of electric vehicle charge points.
