Speaking to First Take Media, Ford UK’s Managing Director Mark Ovenden, provided an interesting point of view about the greater reduction on CO2 with Ford’s EcoBoost engine than “niche volume” sales of electric cars.
In effect, the implication is that EcoBoost engines, due to their massive sales success, are contributing more to CO2 savings than electric cars with their relatively small sales totals when compared. Mr Ovenden says Ford’s strategy has always been to provide customers with a range of vehicles, from conventional petrol or diesel, through to hybrid and electric. Giving choice to the consumer to make their own mind up as to what fits them best.
