The COP21 conference held in Paris this year may mark the beginning of the end for fossil fuel as Europe and indeed the world sets its sights on reducing global emissions. North East Ambulance Service has added five fully electric Nissan Leafs to its fleet of pool cars, to reduce its carbon emissions and save costs on fuel.

Providing a number of NHS services and covering 3,200 miles across the counties of County Durham, Northumberland, and Tyne and Wear, the service has worked closely with independent suppliers and installers of EV charging equipment, Elm EV, to build their charging infrastructure.

Plug in adventurers complete John O’Groats to Land’s End road trip

John O’Groats to Lands End and Back Again in 24Hours for FREE

Two electric vehicle (EV) enthusiasts have completed the epic journey from John O’Groats to Land’s End and back again – for free – in an all-electric Nissan LEAF.

Taking just over two days to finish the 1,652-mile journey, Chris Ramsey and Jonathan Porterfield, both from Scotland, used only publicly available EV charging points, taking advantage of the UK’s growing charging network, comprising more than 7,000 charging stations.

Nissan LEAF 30kWh

New 30kWh Nissan LEAF Provides 155 Mile Range

Nissan has confirmed the 2016 Model Year (MY16) LEAF electric car will be available with a 25% larger battery pack of 30kWh, capable of providing 155 miles from a single charge.

The new 30kWh battery is at the heart of the improved range and should take the electric car to the next level for Nissan. It’s closest rival will be the excellent Kia Soul EV, which sports a healthy 27kWh battery and 132 miles range. Nissan’s development will see the LEAF retake the crown for electric vehicles under £30,000.
