With a truly chilling winter now well underway, the UK will be turning up the heat – literally – inside homes across the country. We take a look at a few of the more economic and environmentally friendly heating systems currently available. In the not too distant past, heating was only possible by means of fire. The Romans changed that with their underfloor heating, so advanced that many homes of today don’t have anything nearly as complex or effective. However, whereas they relied on burning fuel to achieve fire, most modern radiators rely on heated water circulated through pipes. These systems are antiquated in their approach for many reasons, but there are quite a few ‘green’ alternatives as you can see in the infographic below.
